So I came across something by accident. I was searching for something cheap and fun to do today and I came across Draper's Cabin. I was interested and went to Google search the cabin since I have never heard of it before. And low and behold, it's in Morgan-Monroe State Forest. Now, I'm in Greenwood and not that far from Morgan-Monroe and Stepp Cemetery was one of the first cemeteries that I really investigated. I have been several times and plan on going again. Almost every time that I went, some one would notice what little equipment we have and ask us about some cabin around the area. We never found it and never remember to research it when we got home.
So I guess I would like to ask this forum if spending a night would be a good idea. Will we yield some juicy results?

What's the story behind the cabin? I've heard several legends, claims, etc. about stepps cemetery however, nothing about drapers cabin other than that they're both in the same general area.

I'm originally from down in that area and my parents grew up in Martinsville. I haven't really heard any specifics from my parents about Draper's cabin. The only thing they have ever really said is that no one can ever spend a full night there because of things that happen. I would say anything pertaining to forestry is worth checking out though. There is some pretty scary things that happen there.

Mr. Draper built this cabin 100 yrs ago. He had a stone mill powered by the creek behind the cabin. Draper ground corn for the locals. You can see where he once had d**ned up the area in back to create a retaining pond. If you look closely at the stones in the creek, you can, in some places, see where he cut out slabs of rock. in this area of the forest, the floor of the ancient Borden sea is exposed. It is full of fossils.
I have been camping here twice a year or more since my birth in 1977. My family just spent the week living there April 2 -7 th. We will be back again in May. This is my home.
I am a person who doesn't need a machine to know when a ghost is near. I always feel it. Never do I go looking. I understand that some people are looking for something, anything, to show them that there is more out there. I try to be compassionate to this, but Ghost hunting pisses me off to the nth level. These are humans not animals in a zoo. They are stuck and lost. They need love and help NOT giggles, screams and pokes. ( I heard something...OMG.....Did something just move??...OMG..... Do not go around poking these PEOPLE in need. Pray for them, fill yourself with love " LOVE is a force with a vibration, not just an emotion" Care..........They are not there for your amusement.
Of all the places I have walked into and instantly knew a presence of a lost one....This is NOT one of them. MY house, Drapers Cabin is blessed and loved. Never ever have I ever felt one thing out of place here. If I did, you bet your sweet ass I would put things back into place with the quickness.......No Ghosts here.

Please do not presume to come into a forum that goes against your ideals and preach to the members. It will not be tolerated. Sarcastic comments won't be allowed. You have your beliefs and that's fine, but we have ours as well. It is small minded, and self righteous to come in here and tell us how to conduct ourselves. "Ghost hunting" or as we call it, paranormal investigating isn't an exact science. There is no proof whatsoever that these "entities" are in fact people, and that's a part of what we're trying to prove. You are of course welcome to your own opinion, but if it's to come in here and insult us then you can start your own forum and insult people to your hearts content. This is your warning. Next is a ban and deletion. Respect us, and we'll do the same.

I agree with ghost in machine.... Some friends and I had stayed there and are about to again soon. After Googling and reading all the haunt stories I was on edge but went anyway. We all were full of good energies and having fun until we got tired and went to bed (floor). In the middle of the night (about 3am) I started hearing something outside. It kept getting closer and louder, more and more, then it stopped. And then I heard voices right outside, one of the guys opened the window facing fire area out back. Turns out it had been a Barred Owl being scared down the lane by some college kids (not ghosts) and then they left when they realized a bunch of hairy men were in that cabin. Or were we the ghosts. Point is, the human mind is a crazy thing and, you get what you put in. If we went out there with a ghost story looking for trouble, a squirrel could scare the nuts out of a whole group.

I have been to Draper cabin, Stepp cemetery and camped at Morgan Monroe all my life. I've never felt anything but at peace. I love it there but have never in all my 53 yrs of going have experienced any kind of supernatural or haunting there.

We've done several investigations at Stepp Cemetery and have always came away with some sort of EVP or picture. We've never went down to Draper's cabin but might just to see. I've been going to the Forestry for 40 years and have seen a lot of paranormal things and some not so paranormal. I wish all who go would respect the area and quit vandalizing and quit being punks.
