I found this listed under Corydon, IN on the strangeusa.com list, and had never heard of it before. I've been looking for it other places on the net as well, but came up with nothing. Does anyone know if this came out of one of the Haunted Indiana books, or somewhere else? Sounds pretty cool nonetheless, if I had gas money I'd check it out for myself --------------------------------------- Many stories: The most famous LickFord Man, his real name is unknown, was a evil man who worshipped the devil and sacaficed his slaves on the bridge under a fool moon. He was above average in height and would grow his finger nails out to cut the throats of the slaves. If you go and stop at the bridge and get out you will see him come out from behind a tree and walk toward you. You will tell its him by what many call the RED LIGHTENING Bugs. (personal experience: he is very dangerous and can physically hurt you. I have been in a vehicle that was shoved half a circle towards the river with the car turned off, and after we drove off into town LONG handprints where all down the side of the car) You are also suppose to have handprints from the young slaves who are trying to push you off the bridge to save you from Lickford man. If NoN beleivers, or people who go insulting the Lickford man, it is believed he can follow that person until he goes back to the bridge and apologizes. The House, which is on the next road to the right after the bridge. One night Lickford man went crazy and killed his family and buried them beneath the porch. No exact haunting, but entering his house supposedly really makes him mad. (personal: Objects have been thrown, cars have been pushed, and figures have appeared in picture, and electronic equipment has failed) Once again...if NoN beleivers or insults go on in his house the consequences are suppose to be worse then the actual bridge.

this sounds very interesting, but i cant say whether or not its documented in any books. it doesnt sound familiar either, but that means nothing lol. if i can get a chance later today i can run to the library and see if i can dig up anything. if that doesnt work maybe a trip to the state library would turn something up or possibly the county historical society.its quite a long drive for me and right now all i have is a gas guzzler lol so i cant go south to look into it.

Rudolph Stepro’s House Corydon, Indiana, United States
After being shot in the head in battle, Rudolph Stepro could no longer deal with the agony of his life and thus committed suicide on the front porch of his farm house. Since then, the house has been plagued by strange occurrences. Among other things, water comes on by itself, the radio changes stations, and dishes fly through the air. The paranormal activity became so bad that the old house was torn down and replaced; the new house is plagued by the same spirits. Rudolph Stepro was the son of Charles and Marie Rhodes Stepro, he had one brother Charles Stepro and two sisters, Frances Stepro Jacobs and Ollie May Stepro Frakes. He and Charles Jr. served in WW2 and Rudolph was shot in the head in battle and he did kill himself shortly after returning home. Rudolph was never married and had no children, Charles Jr. was married 5 times to 3 women and had three children. Frances and Ollie had one son each, they all grew up on a farm south of Corydon. Frances, my grandmother is still living in New Albany during the summer and in Bradenton FL during the wwinter she will be 91 in June.

Thanks for the link Scott! Didn't really find anything relating to a location for the Stepro house, but someone left this comment.
"I’m from Corydon and I’ve never heard of this story, but I’ve heard and experienced several other places in Corydon…this town is really old and has a lot of history. There are a lot of places that aren’t listed on websites that are apparently haunted…try the lickford house, the old battle park, cold friday (to just name a few)…many unexplained things have happened there and many others to many people i know."
So apparently someone else has heard of the lickford legend.

I saw him last night, coming at us in in the road. We tried using a Oija Board but he didn't want to use that apparently.

I live in corydon and have heard Of the story but the slave thing is new, what I heard was that a man lived on lickford bridge road he went crazy and killed his wife and mother in law and set fire to his kids room while they where in it then burried them under his front porch, he went to prison for a few years then something happened to the evidence and he was released and then disappeared, I have been to the house before and the wood on the front porch is still all torn up from where the cops dug the bodies up, still furniture in there cups and stuff in the kitchen kids clothes on the floor, the house is very ran down and trees growing in it the only thing I experienced was a uncomfortable feeling like we where being watched so we left, just an eary feeling and something told me to leave right away

Just got back from there. We were walking around upstairs, my cousin was recording in her phone with the flash on. She was walking in front of me, and my buddy was behind me, we were walking to the steps and my buddy heard somthing that sounded like somone stomping down stairs and a sec later my left leg fell through and somthing grabbed my foot around my toes. I was up and out to the car right quick. We watched my cousins video and you could see in a hole in the floor about a foot before that went downstairs a figure looked like a shoulder and a head lookin straight then looked up at her then a second later i fell through. Idk what it was but somthing forsure happend.

It has been about three and a half years sence i have been there. I am not sure if it is still the same, last time i was there you gould go past the house down a hill into a field, upon crossing the field to the right you will see a opening into the woods going up hill. It takes 4 wheel drive and a short wheel bace ( jeep or 2 door blazer, due to the sharp turns and rocks limiting the amount of room for rear end off tracking). If you make it up the hill there will be a small opening that circles around where someone at some point in time has taken a large section of a tree and carved it down into a cross. i doubt it has anything to do with the general myth or what have you. None the less it is still messed up. I have experianced the hand prints ( only the small ones) on the back glass of my truck. Do remember it has been a few years sence i have been there. i wish anyone looking into any of this occuring there luck.....
