Location Name: Bridgewater Cemetery
City/Town/County: Scott County, IN
Legend: back in the 1800's there were a lot of civil war soldiers buried there, but no blacks. Some blacks were hung in the cemetery and buried on the outside of the cemetery. People say the cemetery is haunted by something called red eyes that you can see glowing in the back of the cemetery. People have seen hand prints, cars that wouldn't start, and black objects moving around the cars and by an arched shaped thing in the back of the woods, and cold chills. It is always colder in the cemetery than it should be, and some people have said that they got chased out of the cemetery by a white horse.
History:
This old cemetery, occasionally still used today, is located in southwestern Lexington Township, in "Fractional Section" 11, Township 2 North, Range 7 East, which had been originally entered on Oct. 20, 1820, by Jabez Reeve (1781-1865). The triangular tract contained 251.42 acres and was a fraction of a full section since it bordered on Tract 295 of Clark's Grant. The cemetery is entered by a lane (an abandoned county road which once continued on east to State Road 3) which passes alongside Kinderhook Lake. There are sunken spots (and several rough field stones) denoting unmarked graves.
... Prom CEMETERY RECORD, SCOTT COUNTY, published in 1978.
In June 1987 there was a Styrofoam marker with artificial flowers outside the fenced area, without identification.
This cemetery has been cleaned and restored by the Scott County Cemetery Commission.

Misc: This place can be a bit dangerous because it's out in the middle of nowhere, and there's only one way in and out. There's been a couple occasions where my investigations have been interrupted by others visiting. Once was merely a bunch of teenagers with nothing better to do smoking marijuana in a circle, and the other was a bunch of drunken skin heads who idiotically just ran around the cemetery kicking grave markers. So if you decide to make the trip keep an eye out, and turning the car around facing the entrance/exit before you start your investigation would probably be a good idea.
