A friend of mine has reluctantly come to me with concern about strange things happening in her house. What really makes me think twice about this is that she does not believe in this stuff at all...she thinks im crazy when I tell her about my investigations. Anyway...I'm prolonging the point. She told me that weird things have been happening the past 2 months. First, she says that objects are randomly flying off of furniture. For example, she was cooking dinner and she had a pen sitting in the middle of the table. She turned around and heard the pen hit the ground 6 ft away from where it sat on the table. Second, she was doing her bills and had her planner open to a certain page. Her kids were getting rowdy in the living room, so she went to scold them. When she returned to the kitchen(which is connected to the living room), the planner was opened to a whole different section. Mind you, her planner has a spiral binding so when it is open it lies flat. Lastly, she told me that last night she went to bed and she felt somebody pressed up against her thinking it was her husband. When she rolled over he was nowhere near her; he was all the way against the wall leaving bout 3 feet of space between them. To me, this does not seem like a malevolent presence, but something trying to get her attention. Does anybody have any suggestions to what can be done to find out what this is? I wanted to take some EVPs, but I'm an amateur and I wouldn't know where to start. Anybody who could give me advice it would be greatly appreciated.

A little update on the situation with my friend. Her husband was on midnights so he asked me to stay the night so she could feel safer. The main activity she has described has been located in the kitchen, which is adjacent to the living room. I was bunkered down on the couch. As soon as she went to bed, that was when the weirdness started. First, I heard scratching on the kitchen sink...mind you I did not hear that all the two hours before that. Next, I heard noises that sounded like someone was wiping down the counter. Then, I heard the tapping on the patio door in the kitchen. I looked out there to see if there were any branches or anything close to the door that could be hitting it...i saw nothing of the sort. Lastly, I was watching tv and i felt an icy cold sensation on my neck...just on my neck no where else and pressure to accompany it like someone had there hand on my neck. Can anyone tell me how I can identify what is there if anything rational?

I don't think it's mice; that's what she thought it was at first, but I checked the house for rub marks along the wall and droppings and found neither. She never investigated sounds, but I did and could never find the source.

Can anyone tell me how I can identify what is there if anything rational? A lot of kitchen's pipes creak and moan and make other noises during winter months due to expanding water left in the pipes and the pipes general structure as well. The back door noises could very well be wind, i assume this is in indiana, but the wind can pick up and change at the drop of a hat. Especially since this is a patio which sounds more open to the environment, the tapping can be caused by that wind, if even ever so slightly moving the patio door. As far as the neck thing, i can only theorize of course but if you head was near a window, your neck very well could have picked up a draft or just felt the cold radiate to your neck from the window itself. Sometimes when a heater kicks on, it first sends out the cold air trapped in the ducts, though unnoticable most of the time, it can take you by surprise if you aren't expecting it. Now, as far as the other stuff, pen and planner activity...if her kids were rough housing and she got up quickly, her hand, or attached pen in hand, or clothes could have caught the planner and turned the pages...and the pen, maybe a kid snuck in and did it to scare the mother, i know when i was little, i used to try and sneak around the house and be a ninja all the time and would throw things to get attention fro my mom to make her wonder what it was. Overall, I don't think your friend has much to worry about. These all sound like pretty normal and explainable things. If you are that worried though, walk through and take some pictures or do research at the library of the area to see what has been there in the past. Best of luck to you!
